Deciding that your mum needs help at home is the slow part. Once the family has agreed, what matters is how soon somebody can be at the door. Ability Aid Support provides home care services in Hallam for older people who want to stay in their own home, and for people with disability. The business was founded by a Registered Nurse in 2022. The work is the ordinary business of the day: showering and dressing, meals, the housework, getting out, plus Registered Nurse-led clinical care where health needs come into it. Our aged care support is paid for privately or funded through an NDIS plan, so nothing waits on a government assessment. Please call us on 1300 70 12 40 and ask when we could start.

How Soon Could Someone Start
Nothing here waits on a government eligibility decision. There is no assessment to book, no waiting list, and no queue to sit in.
The steps are short. You ring or email, we meet at the kitchen table and go through what the days look like now and what is getting hard, and that consultation is free. A written quote and a proposed schedule follow, naming the support, the hours and who would deliver them. Nothing is billed until you have read it.
How quickly the first visit lands depends on what you are asking for. Two mornings a week is easier to place than overnight cover starting tomorrow, and we will tell you which we can do and when. Enquiries arriving in business hours are answered within 2 hours, with a full response guaranteed inside 24 hours.
Ability Aid Support in Four Facts
Ability Aid Support was founded by a Registered Nurse in 2022, with a background across hospitals, aged care and support work. Approximately 30 people are supported at present, and about 90% of new clients arrive as a referral, usually from someone who has watched an arrangement held together for a relative. Ability Aid Support is a registered NDIS provider and meets NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission requirements. Staff screening, clinical qualifications, insurance and our service guarantees are set out in full on our About page.
Showering, Meals, the Garden and Getting Out
Support is built around the list in your house, not a package tier:
- Personal care: showering, dressing, grooming, toileting, and helping to move about safely.
- Meals and daily living: cooking, shopping, laundry, and a prompt when tablets are due.
- Domestic assistance: the house cleaning and the garden.
- Community access: getting to the doctor, the shops or a friend’s place with someone alongside.
- Dementia care, with familiar faces and the routine kept in the same order.
- Recovering care in the weeks after a hospital stay.
- Palliative care at home, for someone who would rather stay in their own bed.
- Overnight and 24/7 care, where a few hours a week is no longer enough.
A single visit can cover the shower, hang the washing and take your dad to the podiatrist. That is one person in the house that morning instead of three.

Nursing Care Services in Hallam, Delivered at Home
A Registered Nurse leads the clinical work, and it happens where the person lives rather than in a clinic: wound care, PEG feeding and enteral care, medication administration, catheter and continence support, and the ongoing management of chronic conditions. This is where our clinical experience counts most, supporting people with more complex health needs at home.
Our in-house team is built around Registered Nurse-led clinical care and hands-on support work. If an occupational therapist has recommended rails and a shower stool, our workers follow those instructions and report back to the people who wrote them.
The Money Question, and the Assessment You Do Not Need
There is no single hourly figure to quote up front. The rate turns on the hours, when they fall, whether a nurse is involved, and how the support is funded. NDIS-funded supports, including our disability support services in Hallam, are billed against the NDIS Price Guide, so the scheme sets those rates. Private clients are quoted a fixed rate with GST added. The consultation and the written quote are free, and payment is due in full, invoice by invoice.
Our aged care support is paid for privately or funded through an NDIS plan, which is why help can begin without an assessment or a waitlist. If a subsidised package through My Aged Care is the better answer for your family, that’s where to start, and plenty of families arrange private help to cover the wait.

When Residential Care Is the Right Answer
Residential aged care is the most visible kind of care around Hallam, and for some families it is the right call.
Care at home holds while the needs are reasonably predictable, while the house can be made safe to move around in, and while somebody covers the hours between visits. We’ll always give you an honest read on when that balance is shifting, whether that’s a person needing to be watched through the night, or a clinical picture changing faster than scheduled visits can follow.
There is more ground in between than most families expect. Nurse-led care at home, an overnight carer or a 24/7 roster keeps some people in their own bedroom well past the point a first look suggested. Which of those fits your parent is what the free consultation is for.
Getting In Touch, and Where We Cover
We come to the house. Our workers drive to homes off Abbott Road, along Young Road, and either side of the Princes Highway where it cuts through the suburb, and out through the neighbouring City of Casey suburbs, disability support services in Narre Warren among them. For care delivered inside somebody’s home, what decides the quality of it is who turns up and how reliably.
Ring 1300 70 12 40 or email admin@abilityaidsupport.com.au. We are open Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Saturday by appointment, and closed Sunday. There is no drop-in centre, so the first meeting happens at home.
