Ventilation Management
Ventilation management involves providing specialised, round-the-clock care to individuals who rely on mechanical ventilation to breathe. The goal is to ensure proper respiratory function, maintain the participant’s safety, and promote their comfort and quality of life in a home or community setting. This type of care requires skilled nursing interventions, continuous monitoring, and collaboration with healthcare providers to manage complex respiratory needs effectively.
Our ventilation management services can be funded through NDIS funding or accessed privately. If you want to learn more about how we can support you, get in touch today to speak with our team or request a free consultation.

Ventilator Management and Airway Care
Ventilator Setup and Operation: Programming the ventilator according to the participant’s prescribed settings, such as mode, tidal volume, respiratory rate, and FiO₂ (oxygen concentration).
Airway Maintenance: Providing tracheostomy care, suctioning, and cleaning to prevent blockages and infections.
Oxygen Therapy Management: Adjusting oxygen delivery based on SpO₂ (oxygen saturation) levels and clinical guidelines.
Humidification Support: Ensuring proper humidification to prevent airway dryness and irritation.
Ventilator Alarm Response: Monitoring and promptly responding to alarms indicating low pressure, disconnection, or high airway pressure.
Respiratory Assessment, Monitoring, and Complication Prevention
Vital Sign Monitoring: Regularly checking and documenting respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, heart rate, and blood pressure.
Respiratory Function Assessment: Observing for signs of labored breathing, cyanosis, or decreased air entry.
Suctioning and Secretion Management: Performing routine and as-needed suctioning to prevent aspiration and blockages.
Infection Control Measures: Implementing hygiene protocols such as proper handwashing, sterile suctioning techniques, and regular equipment cleaning to prevent ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP).
Pressure Area Care: Repositioning the participant to prevent pressure injuries and ensure comfort during long periods of immobility.

Emergency Preparedness, Education, and Holistic Support
Emergency Management Training: Educating the participant, family, and support workers on ventilator troubleshooting, manual ventilation (Ambu bag use), and recognising respiratory distress.
Backup Power Solutions: Ensuring access to battery backups or generators to maintain ventilation during power outages.
Care Plan Development: Creating individualised care plans that include emergency contact lists, hospital transfer protocols, and medication schedules.
Palliative and Comfort Care: Providing pain relief, psychosocial support, and symptom management for participants with life-limiting conditions.
Family and Carer Support: Offering emotional support, counseling services, and respite care for families managing long-term ventilator dependency.
